Raoul Salpeter is the inaugural General Counsel of the Australian Centre for Disease Control (CDC), providing strategic legal and governance advice to support the organisation in meeting its statutory obligations under Commonwealth legislation.

A highly experienced government lawyer, Raoul has expertise across public law, governance, regulatory matters and complex policy issues. Prior to joining the CDC, he spent almost 20 years with the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, serving as a Principal Lawyer, practice leader and acting General Counsel.

Throughout his career, Raoul has advised on some of the Australian Government’s most significant health matters, including the COVID-19 response, the release of Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) and Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) data, and the Commonwealth’s purchase of the Mersey Community Hospital in Tasmania.
