Marion Hemphill
General Counsel Australian Red Cross LifebloodSince 2010, Marion has been leading Lifeblood’s Legal team. As well as advising on corporate matters, Marion has been advising on the governance of privacy and artificial intelligence, with a particular emphasis on the role of boards in overseeing the ethical use of emerging technologies. She believes that privacy compliance and ethical AI governance should be regarded not merely as legal obligations, but as strategic assets that strengthen trust, reputation and organisational performance.
Throughout her career, she has worked at the intersection of law, governance and organisational strategy, helping entities navigate increasingly complex regulatory environments. Marion has over 25 years’ experience as a corporate lawyer, working at top-tier law firms in Australia, London and New Zealand and as Counsel to the New Zealand Takeovers Panel. Marion is a fellow of the Cranlana Centre for Ethical Leadership.
