Ed Gomes

Deputy Chief Legal Officer Western Sydney International Airport

Ed Gomes is the Deputy Chief Legal Officer and Co-Company Secretary of Western Sydney Airport, and a 20-year PAE director-level solicitor specialising in large-scale infrastructure, construction, technology, manufacturing and aerospace matters. His professional experience spans the United Kingdom, the United States, Europe and Australia. He has acted for both government and commercial clients in those regions in both blue chip in-house and top tier private practice positions.

Immediately prior to his role at Western Sydney Airport, Ed was an Executive with The Boeing Company and Director, Country Counsel and Group Company Secretary for the Southeast Asia, South Pacific, Australia and New Zealand region. A qualified pilot operating out of Bankstown Airport, he was also for many years a Visiting Fellow in Aviation Law at the University of New South Wales.

Ed holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts (with Honours) in History from the University of New South Wales. In recognition of his executive leadership roles in the aerospace industry in the US, the UK and Australia, his academic contributions, and his qualifications as a pilot, Ed was elected to Fellowship of the prestigious Royal Aeronautical Society in 2015. He has also been elected to Freemanship of the Honourable Company of Air Pilots. A patron of the Sydney Flying Club, Ed is also a volunteer with Angel Flight, and regularly participates in air safaris, fly-ins and competitions. He was the author of several chapters of the 3rd edition of Aviation Law in Australia.
